Restoration Sint Jacobs Kapelle '1923'

  De pastorie, ten oosten aansluitend bij de Sint-Jacobskerk en het bijhorende kerkhof, werd heropgebouwd in 1923-1924. Na de vernietiging tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog werden bij de wederopbouw de representatieve functies van het kleine dorp samengebracht rondom de kerk.

Dat de beeldbepalende cluster van de kerk, de pastorie en de school ontworpen is door dezelfde architect, met name Camille Van Elslande, versterkt de ensemblewaarde van de kleine dorpskern. De pastorie werd niet herbouwd naar het vooroorlogse model, maar is geïnspireerd op de oudste vorm van de pastorie, met name de éénlaagse boerenwoning. Meer bepaald van de Veurnse polderhoeve “Het Speelhof”, waarvan Eugène Dhuicque op 19 april 1917 foto's maakte, in het kader van de Mission Dhuicque.    

ABGR restaureert momenteel dit belangrijk beschermd monument “Pastorie van Sint Jacobskapelle” in samenspraak met het Agentschap Onroerend Erfgoed.

 The presbytery, adjacent to the Saint Jacob's church and the accompanying cemetery, was rebuilt in 1923-1924. After the destruction during the First World War, the representative functions of the small village were brought together around the church during the reconstruction.

The fact that the iconic cluster of the church, the prebytery and the school were designed by the same architect, in particular Camille Van Elslande, reinforces the ensemble value of the small village center. The presbytery was not rebuilt to the pre-war model, but was inspired by the oldest form of the presbytery, in particular the single-layer farmhouse. More specifically, the polder farm “Het Speelhof” of Veurne, of which Eugène Dhuicque took photos on April 19, 1917, as part of the Mission Dhuicque.
